Vibrant final in Atalaya of the X Circuito Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahia Principe

The magnificent Old Course of the Costa del Sol’s Atalaya Golf & Country Club, in the municipality of Estepona, was the setting for the final of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe, a circuit of open amateur championships which this year celebrates its tenth edition and which has been played on sixteen courses, among which are some of the most prestigious in the country. The scratch champion, Gonzalo Lillly Martínez (41 points), the first two classified in first category, José Andrés Torres Cabral and Francisco López Castro (both with 39 points), and the first two in second category, Manuel Jesús Godoy del Roj (43) and Luis Miguel Rodríguez Martínez (41), were the winners of the five trips to the Dominican Republic. five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, five-star all-inclusive hotel and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.

Although there was a forecast of rain, in the end it only appeared, and very lightly, for about twenty minutes, so the final of the circuit organized by the Andalucía Golf / España Golf magazine developed comfortably. The hundred or so participants enjoyed the great course designed by Bernard von Limburger, one of the best known golf architects in Germany and who in addition to Atalaya Golf designed 74 courses.

After the competition, the participants went to the El Gamonal restaurant in Marbella, where they enjoyed a fantastic lunch, all under strict measures recommended by the Junta de Andalucía in relation to Covid 19, with tables for four and six people, safety distances and in a completely open and ventilated room.

Before the awards ceremony, the director of Atalaya Golf, Andrés Sánchez; the director of Santa Clara Granada on behalf of Granada Destino de Golf, Joaquín Serrano, who spoke about the benefits of a high-level golf and cultural tourism destination; the president of the Holiday Golf business group, Stefan Tjellander; the president of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, Pablo Mansilla, and the Councilor for Sports of the City of Marbella, Manuel Cardeña, took the floor.
