Laura Gómez Ruiz and Víctor Pastor have been proclaimed winners of the Seville Championship, a competition held over two days at the magnificent facilities of the Real Club Pineda de Sevilla. In the Gentlemen’s category, Víctor Pastor and Leonardo Lilja Moyano again occupied the first two places as in the last edition, but this year the player from Cordoba took revenge to add a new title to his brilliant record.
Victor Pastor delivered a second round of 70 strokes (2 under par) that allowed him to surpass Francisco Mateo Ocaña (leader of the first day) and to distance himself by 5 strokes from Leonardo Lilja.
In the Ladies category, Laura Gómez Ruiz won her second consecutive victory in the championship, although on this occasion she did not accumulate a large advantage over the runner-up and in fact, had to play a play-off tie-breaker against Casilda Castillejo Oriol.
The Real Club de Golf Guadalmina player won the first hole of sudden death after both golfers finished the 36 holes even at 150 strokes.
Finally, regarding the handicap classifications, Fernando Ruiz Vincueria (1st Gentlemen’s category), Alfonso López Rey (2nd Gentlemen’s category) and Casilda Serra Castillejo (Ladies’ category) were the best.
The awards ceremony was attended by José Antonio García de Tejada, President of the Real Club Pineda de Sevilla; Eduardo González de Boado, President of the Golf Committee of the host club; and Miguel Ángel Ares, Chief Referee of the competition.
