
When Michelle Obama stayed here a little over a year ago, she catapulted this hotel to fame. Also the glamour of its parties and social events give Villa Padierna Palace a unique aura. It is, without a doubt, a great hotel located in the epicenter of a great golf resort.
Andreas Hagemann, Sales and Marketing Director of this impressive conglomerate dedicated primarily, but not exclusively, to golf tourism, is cautiously optimistic about the immediate future. His optimism is based on the data and results produced so far this year, especially last summer.
“Things are going much better,” he says. We have increased the number of customers compared to the previous season by exactly 12% more players, and it’s not easy to fill three fields”.
-Is this evident improvement in the situation limited only to your resort or is it the same in Andalusia as a whole?
-I think it is being noticed especially on the Costa del Sol. The clientele is now more selective, they want more quality and services, price is not so important.
-Are the British coming back?
-We have had many more visitors than last year. I would say yes, they are coming back.
-You have considered new formulas for marketing the resort?
-In this aspect, almost everything has been invented. What we have done is to launch from the beginning of October until the end of December the first “Platinum Golf Season”, which is certainly a novel concept that we will repeat on other occasions, but this year it will be limited to Alferini Golf. For all players who opt for this promotion, we have designed a marketing campaign that includes, in addition to a considerable adjustment of the final price of the green fee, the opportunity to register in our database and receive an exclusive gift consisting of a pack of three balls with the logos of our golf courses.
In Tramores what we offer this last quarter of the year is a two for one to publicize the magnificent course of 18 holes par 63 that we have. We have also registered the domain www.platiniumseason.com as a platform for future promotions and campaigns. In the coming months we will inform in more detail what this platform will consist of.
-Last summer, supposedly low season, was very good for Villapadierna Golf Resort, wasn’t it?
-Yes, August was good, in line with the previous year, a little bit better, but I was very surprised by July, which was a very, very good month compared to 2010. In September we also obtained magnificent results. We also have a lot of social and sporting activity in the summer. This year, as always, we had our three important tournaments: The Condesa de Villapadierna, in its sixth edition and which was a success, as well as the IV Torneo Gómez y Molina and the Match Moraleja Puerta de Hierro, which has been played here for the last four years.
