Why are we members of RCG Guadalmina?

Ronan Maguire, from Ireland, tells why his family has become a member of Real Club de Golf Guadalmina and how the experience at this well-known Marbella club is working out for them.

“We joined Guadalmina Club de Golf last January and I have to say it was one of the best investments we have made as a family. I have wanted to join a golf club for many years, but until recently I thought it didn’t make sense for me to do so, why pay a high price for a share, as well as a high joining fee and annual fee, when we could play our whole lives on countless courses for much less? Times have changed, share prices are now more realistic; in fact, they have reached a level that makes it an interesting investment again. The entry fee has been reduced and in some cases eliminated and the overall concept of acquiring a share is once again a very attractive proposition and actually makes financial sense for those who play the game. golf on a regular basis.

So what do you want from a golf club? That was the question we asked ourselves before finally choosing Guadalmina Golf Club. First of all, if I buy a share, I want the fee to be all-inclusive. It makes no sense for me to have a share if all the family members cannot enjoy its benefits, so I had to include the whole family. Fortunately, buying a Guadalmina Golf share allows the whole family to become full members of the club, and this for us was the most important point. The fact that the registration fee was significantly reduced was an advantage and is something that really helped us decide.

Financial issues aside, first and foremost we wanted a good, challenging and well-maintained golf course. We wanted to be able to go out and play quickly, without too many restrictions. We wanted regular tournaments, well organized and open to all members. We wanted to be part of a club that reflects the demographic composition of the Costa del Sol: diverse, multicultural and of course Spanish.

Guadalmina met all the requirements for us and offers a lot to golfing families. The South Course is up to the task, I would even say that it is undoubtedly one of the top ten courses in southern Spain and, when the course is in its best condition, it stands up to the best. Moreover, you enjoy not only one course, but two 18-hole courses and a short 9-hole course. The South is a five star course, and the North is as good as many on the Coast, a real challenge and a pleasure to play.

Children are also part of the agreement and have membership rights at a very low cost. They can play whenever they want, practice as much as they want and are welcomed and encouraged by the club. There are regular lessons, tournaments and many supervised outings to play on other courses. All of this is supervised by professionals who were once part of the Guadalmina Children’s School, one of the best in Spain, which has produced players such as Azahara Muñoz, among others.

The facilities at Guadalmina are great and are in the process of being upgraded, with a new caddymaster, store and maintenance area under construction. The bar and restaurant are fantastic and offer exceptional value for money. It is a place we usually go to even if we are not playing golf. It is open to everyone and I highly recommend a visit. The staff is very helpful and friendly, they are very welcoming and go the extra mile for members and their guests. It is always a pleasure to walk into a club as warm and welcoming as Guadalmina”.
