Schellong and Lilja win first Pitch & Putt Tour events

The Andalusian Pitch & Putt Circuit 2014 got underway at the Malaga course of the La Siesta Golf Club. Más de 80 jugadores participaron en un exitoso torneo que finalizó con el triunfo de Nicolas Schellong, first winner of the season after a magnificent round of 51 strokes (-3).

The Czech golfer, with five birdies and two bogeys on his card, beat Leonardo Lilja, two-time Spanish Pitch & Putt champion, by one stroke.

As regards the handicap rankings, in the first category, Lukas Pany, author of a round of 52 net strokes, was one ahead of Aitor Sebastian.

In the second category, two local players, Alvaro Fernandez and Carlos Ramon de Fata, took the first places with 52 and 53 strokes, respectively.

Finally, in the recently inaugurated Under 16 category, David López was the winner.

Also noteworthy in this magnificent day of golf were the spectacular holes-in-one achieved by Alvaro Fernandez and Anthony Fernandes.

After finishing the competition and before proceeding to the presentation of trophies to the best classified, the Pitch & Putt Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation wanted to pay a nice tribute to José Luis López Bautista.

The excellent player from Cadiz has made the leap to the professional world and in his last year as an amateur he was proclaimed champion of Spain, for the second consecutive time, as part of the Andalusian team in the Interterritorial Pitch & Putt.

The prize distribution table was attended, among others, by Antonio Fuentes, Acting President of the RFGA Pitch & Putt Committee; and Manuel Rojo, Caddie Master of La Siesta Golf Club.

For his part, Leonardo Lilja won the second round of the Andalusian Circuit of Pitch & Putt, played at the Costa del Sol course of Greenlife Golf Club.

The two-time Spanish champion in this form of golf once again lived up to his billing as the favorite and after a 53-stroke round, the only round under par of the day, he won his first victory of the season.

In second place was Tim Waller, tied at 54 strokes with Antonio Pimentel.

As for the handicap classifications, Inmaculada González was crowned in the first category with a score of 51 net strokes.

Second place, one stroke behind the winner, went to Nicolas Schellong, winner of the inaugural tournament of the Andalusian P&P Circuit at La Siesta Golf Club.

In the second category, Julia López won thanks to a round of 48 net strokes, followed by Alejandra Sánchez de la Fuente.

And to complete the female protagonism in this event, María Contreras was awarded in the new Under 16 category.

Antonio Fuentes, acting President of the Pitch & Putt Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, and Tomás Llanza, Director of Greenlife Golf Club, were in charge, among others, of awarding the prizes to the first classified players.

The next appointments of the Andalusian Pitch & Putt Circuit will take place on March 1 at Sherry Golf Jerez and one day later at the Escuela Pública La Cartuja in Seville.
