Golf product club created on the Costa del Sol

The western Costa del Sol already has its golf product club, consisting of several courses in this area of the province of Malaga and that are a boost for this segment, as well as being “an example” of public-private collaboration.

The general secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Trade, Vicente Granados, presented this product club together with the president of the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Malaga (CEM), Javier González de Lara, and its coordinator, Domingo Gavira.

This club is made up of La Quinta Golf & Country Club, La Cala Resort, El Chaparral Golf Club, Doña Julia Golf, Marbella Golf Country Club, La Duquesa Golf & Country Club, Golf Finca Cortesin, Santa Clara Golf, CaboPino Golf, GreenLife Golf and Los Naranjos Golf, in addition to the specialized accommodations The Marbella Heights-Boutique Hotel and La Reserva del Higuerón.

Granados stressed that the product clubs are “drivers of differentiated segments and diversifiers of the traditional tourism of the Costa del Sol”. For his part, Gonzalez de Lara highlighted the public-private cooperation and between companies as a formula for business success, valuing its importance in the pursuit of common goals.

Gavira, for his part, emphasized the importance of coordination and the “good harmony” of the companies that make up the club, “united with the aim of offering added value to their tourism and leisure products”.

The 90 courses in the area, mainly located in Marbella, Mijas and Estepona, represent 65% of the golf sector in Andalusia and 20% of the national total. Golf tourism brought 400 million euros directly to Malaga last year and 900 million euros indirectly, with the arrival of 300,000 tourists. For this year an increase of between 4.5 and 5% is foreseen, as Greenlife Golf has pointed out.

The 13 companies integrated in this club are working along the lines of the consortium of the Qualifica Plan to seek synergies with other segments, articulate sustainable proposals, improve professionalization, promote service excellence and online marketing.

Together with the rest of the product clubs created within the framework of the Qualifica Plan, this is a differentiated tourism bet for the exterior, since “it combines the potential of the golf industry in the province of Malaga to increase the attractiveness of the territory, while betting on competitiveness and innovation in the sector”.

During the presentation, a video was shown on the objectives and characteristics of the golf club and a demonstration of the micro-space created to facilitate the purchase of tourism products of the member companies.
