The Asturias team has achieved its fourth consecutive victory in the Spanish Interautonomic Championship U-25 Women 1st Division REALE, which this time has been held in Empordá Golf (Girona).
In second place was the Andalusian team, captained by Sara Navarro (La Siesta) and formed by the member of Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, Noemí Jiménez; the SIGA-Sotogrande player, María Parra; the Sevillian of Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, Lucila Puente; Mª Teresa Toscano, of Club de Golf Bellavista; the member of El Paraíso, Sara García Real; and Marina Escobar, of Almerimar Golf.
The Andalusians have fought until the last moment in a final full of spectacularity and emotion, marked by the equality between the two teams throughout the day.
The morning started with 2-1 for the Asturians after the foursomes, in which the Andalusians scored the point obtained by Noemí Jiménez and Lucila Puente.
In the afternoon, the excitement was heightened with the individual clashes, in which the participants gave a lesson in good golf, and the tension was palpable in each of the clashes. Teresa Toscano and Sara García won their clashes, but after Lucila Puente, Marina Escobar and Noemí Jiménez lost to the Asturians, it became unnecessary to conclude the duel between Paula Neira and María Parra.
The Andalusian players finished the qualifying round in fourth position, with a total of 366 strokes, and led by the 69 strokes delivered by the player of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, Noemí Jiménez, who with this tournament says goodbye to the amateur world to begin her career as a professional.
In the quarterfinals, Andalusia beat Catalonia 6-3 and, yesterday in the semifinals, defeated the Basque Country 5-4.
The players were accompanied by Sara Navarro (La Siesta) in the role of captain; Castor Gómez in the role of coach; and Candelaria Flores, President of the Women’s Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation.
