Andrea Vilarasau has released his international record at the Grand Prix de Landes, where the Spanish golfers completely dyed the classification of red and yellow, especially in the women’s category, where the top five classified have been representatives of our country.
In the men’s category, Marcos Pastor finished second behind Frenchman Victor Perez, while four other Spaniards finished in the Top 10.
Among the women, Andrea Vilarasau – bronze medalist at the recent European Under 18 and semifinalist at the British Girls in 2010 – gave a lesson in patience, skill and effort, combined in cards of 67, 69, 73 and 72 strokes that led her to victory in a tournament reduced from almost the start to the alternatives created
by the Spanish golfers, exclusive monopolizers of the highest part of the ranking.
Not in vain, you have to go down to sixth place to find the first non-Spanish player -French Alexandra Vilatte-, preceded by the aforementioned Andrea Vilarasau, Natalia Escuriola -second at 3 strokes-, Luna Sobrón, Teresa Caballer and Nuria Iturrios.
In the men’s category, the determination and accuracy of Marcos Pastor – Spanish Absolute champion in 2010 and Pitch & Putt champion in 2010 and 2011 – were not enough to unseat Victor Perez, author of four outstanding and persistent rounds, a round of 67 strokes and three more of 68.
Marcos Pastor, second by two strokes, led a Spanish representation in which Carlos Pigem, fourth, Xavier Puig, sixth, Víctor Bertrán, eighth, and Gerard Piris, ninth, also shone.
In the history of the Grand Prix de Landes there have been numerous triumphs. In 2008, Azahara Muñoz from Malaga extended two consecutive victories by Ane Urchegui (2006 and 2007) and continued the successes achieved in previous years by Carlos Pérez Barberán (2006), Jordi García del Moral (2005) and Iñigo Urquizu (2004),
Ignacio Sánchez Palencia (2003) and Sergio García (1997). The last title in the men’s category was won by Carlos Pigem in 2009.
