The Andalucía Golf Challenge, in La Reserva de Sotogrande

The high quality of the course and the extraordinary presentation of La Reserva de Sotogrande dazzled all the players of the II Andalucía Golf Challenge -more than a hundred-, who praised the course highly.

prestigious course, undoubtedly one of the best in Spain.

The competition distributed more than 6,000 euros in prizes between golf equipment (2,100) from PING and the Triay Golf store, weekends in five-star hotels and green fees in several of the best courses on the Costa del Sol, including the emblematic Valderrama.

In addition, all participants over 18 holes received as a gift a bottle of Gran Reserva wine from the Somontano appellation of origin.

The second event of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit, after the inaugural one at Finca Cortesín in June, also had a scenario of the highest golfing level: the prestigious course of La Reserva de Sotogrande.

On this occasion, more than a hundred players took part in this open competition of the Andalucía Golf Challenge, the exclusive amateur circuit promoted by this publication.

The amateurs who attended the tournament played, in general, at a good level and enjoyed both the course and the good weather, on a day in which the wind hardly made its presence felt and the heat was not oppressive.

British, Germans, Scandinavians, Spaniards …. The tournament brought together a diverse representation of nationalities, who greatly enjoyed the day’s sport.

The awards ceremony, in the spectacular La Reserva clubhouse, where a magnificent cocktail was served, was presided over by the editor of Andalucía Golf, Antonio Sánchez, and the host club’s Director of Golf, Lucas de la Puente.

Regarding the sporting results, in the first category, the victory went to Andoni Basterrechea Palacios, with 42 points. Second place, with 41 points, went to Santiago Gutiérrez Duque, and third place, with one point less, to Robin Reid.

In the second category, Javier Figar Lacalle won with 45 points. Second, with one point less, was Javier Casbas Escribano, while third place went to Marta Múgica Inciarte, who totaled 41 points.

The prize for the Longest Driver for Men went to Álvaro Revuelta, while the women’s prize went to Marie-Laure Margulis, and the prize for the Best Indistinct Approach went to Fernando Aguado.

The tournament stood out, apart from the setting of the competition, for the quality of the prizes, which together exceeded the amount of 6,000 euros. The trophies, made of methacrylate, stood out for their elegance.

The first three classified in each category received, apart from the corresponding trophies, vouchers of 500, 300 and 150 euros to purchase golf equipment of the PING brand plus a selection of great reserves of D.O. Somontano wines. Both the best male and female drive and the best approach were awarded with dinners at the Casino Marbella plus 100 euro vouchers to be redeemed at the Triay Golf store in Marbella.

The raffle held among the participants of the tournament after the awards ceremony also distributed important gifts, such as a stay for two people with golf and all inclusive at the Fairplay Hotel in Benalup Golf, valued at more than one thousand euros, and vouchers for two green fees at Valderrama, Aloha, La Reserva, Almenara, San Roque Club, Flamingos, Santana, Guadalmina, La Quinta and El Chaparral.
