Cabrera-Bello starts the BMW Championship on a high note and takes fifth place

Rafael Cabrera-Bello got off to a great start at the BMW Championship, the third and penultimate tournament of the FedExCup Playoffs, an event from which the 30 players who will play in The Tour Championship will emerge. From this last competition of the Playoffs will emerge the champion of the FedExCup, who will receive a prize of ten million dollars.

The player from the Canary Islands is fifth after the first day and, with 65 strokes, he is three strokes behind the leader, the Australian Marc Leishman. The second place, with 64 impacts, is shared by another Australian, the former world number one Jason Day, and the Americans Charley Hoffman and Jamie Lovemark. Cabrera is tied with Americans Jordan Spieth, Tony Finau and Rickie Fowler.

Of the other two Spaniards in play, Sergio Garcia is the one who has fared better on the first day. He is in twenty-fourth place, with 68 strokes, while Jon Rahm registered one stroke more and goes out today to compete in thirty-sixth place.

This tournament, based in Lake Forest, Illionois, has $8.7 million at stake, $1.5 million of which will be pocketed by the winner.
