
Carlota Ciganda has inaugurated her professional record by winning in the playoff against the Danish Juli Tvede in the Murcia Ladies Open held at La Manga Golf Club. With this victory, the most successful amateur player of Spanish golf has prepared in the best way her next participation in the final of the LPGA Qualifying School, the European Women’s Professional Tour. After three remarkable rounds, play was suspended due to lack of light after two playoff holes with Denmark’s Julie Tvede. In the resumption of the playoff and after another three playoff holes, Ciganda, with a total of 214 strokes, has achieved her first international success. On the third playoff hole both golfers made a bogey, on the fourth a par and on the fifth, the 18th, the Spaniard made birdie for Tvede’s par. Maria Beautell from the Canary Islands took third place with a total of 217 strokes. Also noteworthy is the good participation of the amateur Mireia Prat, who found a place in the Top 30 in the Murcian course.
