
The Faculty of Tourism of the University of Malaga has hosted the ceremony of delivery of scholarships and diplomas that closes the first promotion of the postgraduate course in Management and Management of Golf Courses. With this project, the University of Malaga, in collaboration with the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, has opted for the training of professionals specialized in these functions.
The ceremony was presided over by Ángel de la Riva Gómez, President of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation; Antonio Guevara, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Malaga; and Josefa García, Vice-Dean of the Faculty and Director of the Course.
In his words, Angel de la Riva thanked the University of Malaga for the support it has given to the sport of golf for years and emphasized the excellent relations that the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation has always maintained with the University.
He also highlighted the great advance for the golf tourism industry that the creation of this specialization course represents, which is committed to the training of professionals dedicated to this sector in the heart of the Costa del Sol, the area with the highest concentration of courses in Continental Europe. For the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, he added, it is very important to support the training of golf course staff, in order to continuously improve the quality of our service.
The course began last January and is equivalent to a total of 37 credits. In addition to the lessons taught in the classroom, students have obtained part of these credits through online teaching and external internships in companies. The program concluded with the preparation of an end-of-degree project, which the students presented on May 30.
During these months, the students have acquired knowledge about the history of golf, the tourism associated with this sport and the work of golf course management.
Along with the Faculty of Tourism of the University of Malaga and the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, have collaborated with this project Turismo Andaluz, Patronato de Turismo de la Costa del Sol, Río Real Golf & Hotel, Lauro Golf, Guadalhorce Club de Golf, Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, Miguel Ángel Jiménez Golf Academy, Aloha Golf Club, Parador Málaga Golf, La Cala Golf Hotel Spa, Máster cum Laude, Antequera Golf, Golfenred and Golfspain.
