Fifteenth victory for the Spanish youth team

Fifteenth Golf Victory

The Spanish junior team coached by María José Buitrago has obtained its fifteenth consecutive victory in the junior match of the category that every year faces Portugal.

On this occasion, the Centro Nacional de Golf de Madrid was the scene of a slightly more balanced duel than in previous years, which ended with a score of 11-5. The well-kept greens of the National Center saw the great performance of the Spanish players – all of them children or juniors – and the Portuguese players, of cadet age.

The two days of play ended with the same partial result, 5.5-2.5 in favor of Spain, which, although it is true that the final victory was not in danger, had to work hard in most of the individual matches.

In this way, Spain reaffirms its absolute hegemony in a competition in which it has obtained all possible victories. Despite the proven evolution of the Portuguese team in recent years, the Spanish youth team has always been inaccessible to its neighbors.

María José Buitrago and RFEG coach Kiko Luna have had under their orders the junior players Álvaro Escamal;lada, Luis Montoya, María Parra and Marta Pérez, and the junior players Gorka Zabarte, Julio Moreno, Judith Castro and Nuria Jiménez.

The precedents for the event were unbeatable for the Spanish team. Last year in the Algarve, the team obtained its fourteenth victory in as many editions by a total of 11-5.

In 2009, in the Pontevedra field of Meis, Spain again punished Portugal by a resounding 14.5-1.5.
