Figures provided by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority have revealed a record number of golf outings by foreign golfers during the first quarter of 2013, leading global golf tourism industry experts to suggest that the destination is becoming one of the most lucrative in the sector.

The three championship courses contributed nearly one-third of the overseas rounds played, a significant increase over the same period last year and far higher than any other destination in the country.
Kevin Wang, South General Manager of Grand Tours, a Chinese tour operator specializing in gofl, said, “We are getting good referrals from the clients we are sending to Abu Dhabi. This word-of-mouth promotion is making Abu Dhabi an easier sell for us and I expect the emirate’s popularity to continue to rise. I anticipate sending increasing volumes of Asian golf travelers to Abu Dhabi in the coming seasons.”
Abu Dhabi’s rise as a major golf destination has caught the attentionof the executive director of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), Peter Walton.
