Jimenez fights for the lead in Dubai and Cabrera-Bello finishes his round with two eagles in a row

At 54 years of age, Miguel Angel Jimenez is still a young man, with his hopes for victory intact and in top physical and mental shape. He proves it every week he competes, like now in Dubai, where after the first round he was third and, at the time of publishing this news, while the second round is being played and he has five birdies in the first nine holes, he has moved up one place and is only one stroke behind the provisional leader, the British Jamie Donaldson. The player from Malaga made yesterday in his first round seven birdies and one bogey for a total of 66 holpes, 6 under par.

The Omega Dubai Desert Classic also had another outstanding Spanish protagonist yesterday, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, who finished his round in an almost unheard of way: with two eagles on the last two holes. The canary signed a first round of 69 strokes, the same as Sergio Garcia, both tied in the twenty-fourth position. Alejandro Cañizares is in a better position, sixth, with 67 strokes.
