Last July 8th, 9th and 10th the summer competition for laCala&You card holders was held at La Cala Resort, Mijas. The three-day event was played in best ball mode and was sponsored by the Irish multinational Magners, a regular sponsor of sporting events. With an impressive 46 points in the first round, Ross Tippett of Woburn Golf Club GC and Joshua Emerton of Mid-Herts Golf Club GC were the winners of the event. Both traveled from London to defend the title won the previous year.
The 2nd place went to the excellent couple from Navarra formed by Jorge and Gonzalo Zubieta, who even scored better in the second round than the winners. The event, with 25% more participation than the previous year, had a very positive reaction among the players regarding the game format and the organization. Numerous nationalities were represented at the event, from English residents on the Coast to countries such as Ireland, Denmark or the United States.The “laCala&You” card offers non-residents an excellent opportunity to enjoy the Resort facilities: discounts at the hotel, golf and Caracala Spa. The program launched in May 2007 is open to guests over 18 years of age who fill out, free of charge, the registration form at the resort or on the website. There are currently more than 2,500 “laCala&You” program members from 22 different countries, around 500 of whom take part in La Cala golf competitions.
Since 1989, La Cala resort has developed into the largest golf resort on the peninsula with 3×18 golf courses, a luxury country hotel with Spa and the only David Leadbetter golf academy. The resort located in the heart of the Costa del Sol is ideally situated between Marbella and Mijas and only 30 minutes from Malaga International Airport.
