Los Naranjos Golf Club, venue for the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España in November.

Los Naranjos Golf Club, one of Marbella’s most pedigree clubs, will open its doors from the 25th to the 28th of November for the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, a decisive test and perfect culmination for the Race to Costa del Sol, the order of merit of the Ladies European Tour. Its very careful course will serve to identify the winner of this prestigious tournament and the first classified in the ranking of the circuit, a double crown that last year was awarded to the Danish Emily Kristine Pedersen after an exciting duel with the Spaniards Nuria Iturrioz and Ana Pelaez.

The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, once again sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo, Regeneración, Justicia y Administración Local de la Junta de Andalucía, Turismo y Planificación Costa del Sol and Acosol – Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental, will be played in another of the jewels of the Costa del Sol signed by Robert Trent Jones Sr, a stellar designer who knew how to combine beauty, functionality and quality in a course that takes advantage of the undulations of the terrain and occupies the bed of a river that crossed the orange grove that gives its name to the course. Los Naranjos Golf Club is another example of the spectacular level offered by the Andalusian and Costa del Sol courses, and its manicured greens and fairways will determine the outcome of the Race to Costa del Sol, the Ladies European Tour ranking that for the second year adopts this name. As icing on the cake, the 600,000 € to be distributed in the tournament and the 250,000 € for the three best classified of the annual ranking.

“Hosting the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España 2021 is not only a great pride, but a reflection of Los Naranjos Golf Club’s strong commitment to women’s golf, its growth and its media impact. We must remember that this event is the grand finale of the Ladies European Tour’s Race to Costa del Sol and the importance it has and should have in the international golf industry,” explains Julián Romaguera, general manager of a club that already hosted another LET event in 1988, the Marbella Ladies Open won by South African Laurette Maritz.

Los Naranjos Golf Club was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1977 and is located in the heart of Nueva Andalucía, Marbella (Málaga), a few minutes from Puerto Banús. The course has a differentiated orography between the first and second round and it is essential for players to go long off the tee if they want to achieve good results, especially in the par 3’s. The distribution of the holes offers diversity to the amateur, since from certain strategic points several holes are dominated and it is possible to enjoy a lot of golf. In addition, in recent years the club has undergone major improvements, mainly in its different tees and in the finishes of its design in order to adapt to the demand and needs of its members.

“In 2019/2020 we were awarded the Gold Flag by the prestigious service excellence platform 59Club after having achieved the Silver Flag the previous year. This fact shows our ambition to create a hospitality experience at the service of golf courses and to continue offering our members and visitors a luxury and quality service,” details Julian Romaguera.

Once again this year, the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España will act as a magnet for players and fans thanks to its location as the last event of the Ladies European Tour calendar, its generous prize purse and the undoubted attraction of Marbella and its surroundings, a perfect example of how much Andalucía and the Costa del Sol have to offer. This coastal region will host the tournament for the eighth time after those played at Flamingos in 2010, La Quinta in 2011 and 2018, Aloha Golf in 2016 and 2019, and Real Club de Golf Guadalmina in 2017 and 2020.

The competition that will face for the first time on Spanish soil the teams of Europe and the United States, the Solheim Cup 2023, is a reference in a horizon that is getting closer and closer and has served to strengthen institutional and business support that unites in this Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España the same actors that support the Spanish edition of the biennial championship. Once again this year, Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España has the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration of the Junta de Andalucía, Turismo y Planificación Costa del Sol and Acosol – Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental, entities that value the importance of golf as a tourist attraction and that are aware of the importance of promoting women’s sports as a way of structuring society. Also aligned with these ideals is Reale Seguros, a partner recently incorporated as a collaborating company of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, whom the promoters of the tournament wish to welcome.
