New Zealander plays 237 holes in 12 hours and sets a new Guinness World Record

One thing is a hobby and another, what happens to Brad Luiten, a New Zealander crazy about golf who has been able to play 237 holes in twelve consecutive hours. The gentleman in question beat the Guinness World Record for holes played in that period of time by 16 holes.

Luiten, who undertook the challenge as a tribute to a friend who died of bowel cancer, used only a 6-iron to play all the holes, so that those who criticize golf can say it is not a sport!

Also spurred in his case by the fight against cancer, a disease suffered by a close friend of his, was David Steele’s attempt to break a Guinness golf record on the Costa del Sol in 2003. Steele, who had been a European Tour player for eight years, came within 35 holes of breaking the world record for most holes played in 24 consecutive hours, set at 800.

To accomplish the feat, Steele went to the Dama de Noche, a Marbella course with artificial lighting so that it can be played at night, and used a very powerful buggy specially prepared for the occasion. The British player arrived exhausted, almost faint, to the last hole 24 hours after he started his marathon day of golf.
