Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri will once again welcome the best players of the Challenge Tour from June 7 to 11 to celebrate the Andalucía Challenge de Cádiz, a tournament that has become a classic in this circuit, in which the Cadiz course has opened the doors to the tour on six occasions in the last four years.
Years in which golfers who arrived as young promises have triumphed and have become consolidated players, such as the Spaniards Santiago Tarrío and Pep Anglés, as well as those who began to stand out thanks to their victory in Sancti Petri, Ondrej Lieser, Kristof Ulenaers and Jens Dantorp.
So says Jaime Salaverri, President of the Professionals Committee of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation: “There have been six tournaments in which we have been able to enjoy golf of the highest quality and where the members of the ProSpain have had a great performance that has opened more opportunities for them to continue competing. We are very grateful to the whole team of the Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri for all their effort to present the course every year in better conditions, not only the course itself, but all the facilities and the environment that makes the players’ experience exceptional. I believe that once again this year it will be a success that we will all enjoy”.
Jamie Hodges, Challenge Tour Director, said: “We are delighted to return to the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri for this year’s Andalucía Challenge de Cádiz. We first visited Sancti Petri for two events in 2020 and were immediately greeted with exceptional hospitality and discovered a great golf course for our players. Since then, we have returned every year and it is, without a doubt, one of our favorite stops on our International calendar given the quality of the golf course, the facilities and the wonderful area in which our players can enjoy during their time away from the golf course.”
For Rafael Hernández-Alcalá, Director of the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri “.One more year the European Tour bets on the quality of our courses to celebrate, for the 5th consecutive year, a Challenge Tour event. Players, their families and teams enjoy this great golf destination in Chiclana de la Frontera, undoubtedly a reference in Europe. All this makes the great effort made by our maintenance team, together with the Green Section of the RFEG, worthwhile and the quality conditions of our courses are, once again, ideal for these great professionals of the Challenge Tour. I would like to thank the members and the Iberostar group for all the support received over the years, which has made the Challenge de Cadiz an event already marked in the agenda of the circuit. Welcome to our beloved province of Cadiz “.
Javier Gervás, General Manager of JGolf: “returning to Sancti Petri, a course that has proven to be at the height of the Challenge Tour, is to ensure success, high level competition and facilities that are appreciated by players who come from tournaments in difficult places. The fact that Cádiz and the Junta de Andalucía maintain their commitment to this tournament is a sign of the fantastic return it gets, not only at a competitive level but also for tourism, so that the Andalucía Challenge of Cádiz is consolidated as one of the great events of the 2023 calendar”.
The Andalucía Challenge of Cádiz will be played from June 7 to 11 at the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri, and will have the collaboration of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación de Cádiz, the Challenge Tour, the Real Federación Andaluza de Golf and JGolf, as well as the Consejo Superior de Deportes, Kyocera Consejo Superior de Deportes, Kyocera (official printing services), Allianz, Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, Mahou San Miguel, Solán de Cabras, AON, BCD Sports, Rentokil, Titleist, Hospital Viamed Novo Sancti Petri, Nextcaddy and Osborne.
