Spectacular sunrise at Lauro Golf in Malaga to welcome the twenty-two teams captained by the professional players of this Santander Golf Tour. Along with them, four amateurs for each professional ready to give their all in this pleasant day of PRO AM competition. The Lauro golf course was prepared down to the smallest detail to warmly welcome the tournament, and even the president of the club, Carlos Pitarch, put on his chef’s apron after the game to entertain all the guests with a barbecue in the courtyard of the wonderful farmhouse that is the clubhouse of Lauro Golf.
Piti Martínez Bernal’s team dominated the first round, with a partial of -20. Behind, just one stroke behind, were the teams led by Nuria Iturrios and Marta Sanz Barrio, with a total of -19. As the hours and holes went by, these three couples disputed the first position. But a great start by Nuria Iturrios and her team in the second round placed them solo leaders. Finally, the PRO AM ended with a better score for the team of Nuria Iturrios and Marta Sanz Barrio, with a card of minus thirty-seven strokes. A very good result for both teams. After this tie, the result of the last 6 holes would determine the winner, and in this case it would be Nuria Iturrios and her team, composed of amateurs Teresa Torrejón, Pilar van Dulken, Ernesto Mira and Eduardo de Wint. Behind them were the teams of Marta Sanz Barrio (-37) and Maggie Simmermacher, María Parra and Piti Martínez Bernal, with -32 strokes.
But not only sport stood out yesterday in Malaga, since it was also carried out, as it is already tradition in the Santander Golf Tour, the charity contest to raise funds in this case, for the Cystic Fibrosis Patient Association of Spain. More than a thousand euros were contributed between the guests and the Santander Bank on this occasion.
The results of the ProAm make foresee a very close professional tournament starting today, when the competition begins to see who will win the trophy in the second event of the season, to be held in Malaga.
