Rahm aims to win FedExCup after fifth place in BMW Championship

Two out of three. The Spanish trio could not make it to the final round of the FedExCup Playoffs and Rafael Cabrera-Bello will not accompany Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia in that decisive event, The Tour Championship, in which there are 8.7 million dollars at stake (1.5 for the winner) in prize money plus a bonus of 10 million for the winner of the FedExCup. The player from the Canary Islands finished in the BMW Chamnpionship, just one stroke away from being among the top thirty who will play in The Tour Championship.

For his part, the Basque finished fifth, which maintains his aspirations to win the FedExCup (any of the top five in the ranking that wins the last tournament will automatically win the FedExCup and the bonus of 10 million, and Rahm is fifth in that ranking), while the Spaniard finished ranked twelfth (he is twenty-fifth in the FedExCup). It will be the first time that two Spaniards will compete in the last FedExCup tournament.

The victory in the BMW Championship went to Australia’s Marc Leishman, with 23 under par, five strokes ahead of runners-up Justin Rose and Rickie Fowler, and seven strokes ahead of Jason Day. Rahm was eight strokes behind the champion.
