The Real Club de Golf Sotogrande lived up to the great expectations that this course always awakens and received the unanimous praise of the players who, over two days, played the third tournament of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2018 Circuit Destination ‘La Romana Golf Club Bahía Príncipe’ in Dominican Republic. The layout designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones presented magnificent conditions, and the prevailing sunny weather contributed to enhance a great sporting day.
In addition to the prizes for each tournament (top brand clothing from the fairway+blue store, D.O. Somontano wines, sports equipment, etc.), the first five classified in each category obtain a place to play in the final of the Circuit and thus opt for one of the five week-long trips to the Dominican Republic that includes flight, hotel (Bahía Príncipe) and four days of golf (two at La Romana Golf Club, one at Punta Espada and another at Diente de Perro).
The first classified in the RCG Sotogrande in first category were, in this order, the following: Francisco Javier García Marín (38 points), Rolf Leuner (38), Alejandro Martínez Arasso (37), Antonio Javier García Frías (36), David Campbell (35) and Jesús Sánchez Onieva (35).
In the second category, the five who won a place in the grand final were Pedro Luis Gómez Martínez (46 points), Ginés González Asensio (37), Saverio Ronca (36), Francisco López Castro (36) and Rainer Joachi Nickel (36).
The scratch winner was Francisco Javier García Marín, who was awarded a painting by the renowned and highly regarded Marbella-based painter Alejandro Hermann. The special prize for the closest ball to the 17th hole went to Juan Cortés, while the prizes for the longest drive on the 18th hole went to Ana María López and Carlos Mena.
The sports party concluded at the clubhouse facilities with a magnificent cocktail and the awarding of prizes and raffle of gifts.
The next appointments of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2018 Destination ‘La Romana Golf Club Bahía Príncipe’ Circuit are the following: July 28 at La Reserva de Sotogrande; August 11 at San Roque New Course; August 18 at Flamingos and August 25 at Valle Romano.
HEADING TO THE CARIBBEAN
The top five in each category in each tournament qualify for the Grand Final, where the five one-week all-inclusive trips to ‘La Romana Golf Club Bahia Principe’ in the Dominican Republic will be decided.
The first two classified in each category and the scratch winner of the Grand Final, to be played in September at a course to be determined, will travel to the Caribbean country. The estimated date of the trip ( (7 days) is October 22-31, 2018.
