
The splendid Old Course of San Roque Club was the setting for the third tournament of the Andalucía Golf Challenge, a circuit organized by the publishing company Andalucía Golf, which is celebrating its fourth edition this summer. The first course of the Campo de Gibraltar resort, which in 2005 hosted the Open de España, a European Tour tournament held the following year at the New Course of San Roque Club, presented splendid playing conditions.
The competition distributed flights to Turkey with Turkish Airlines for the winners of each category, as well as numerous prizes in valuable material (clubs, bags, etc.) from Holiday Golf for the first three classified, who also won cases of gran reserva wines from the Somontano D.O.. The Fairways + Blue store also contributed with different prizes and gifts, as did the Marbella Casino. After the awards ceremony, a raffle of gifts was held among all participants.
The award ceremony was presided over by the editor of Andalucía Golf, Antonio Sánchez, and the assistant manager of the host club, Gonzalo Goy.
As regards the sporting results, in the first category, the victory went to Mark Robertson (handicap 7.3), with 38 points. Second place, with one point less, went to Francisco Silvela Faget (hcp 10.5), and third place, with 35 points, went to Gonzalo Goy Gallardo (hcp 5.5).
In the second category, Manuel Carlos Hernández León (hcp 16.2) won with 37 points. Second, with two points less, was Esteban Rodríguez Sevillano (hcp 22.8), while third place went to Elías Azzan Ruiz (hcp 16.7) who totaled 33 points.
In the women’s classification, the best result was obtained by Annik Vander Bracht with 30 points, followed by Gabriela Johne, with 28, and Carmen Martín-Peña, with 26.
The next appointments of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2014 Circuit are the following: La Reserva (15/08/2014), Flamingos (23/08/2014) and Aloha (07/09/2014). The reservation to participate must be made at each golf course where the tournament will take place.
