The magnificent Old Course of Atalaya Golf has hosted the first Andalucía Golf tournament of this year. Despite the rain that appeared early in the morning, the tournament could be played on Saturday without any problem, since the rain stopped just a few minutes after the start of the competition and did not appear again during the whole sporting day. As with all the tournaments organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf/España Golf, there were players of different nationalities, predominantly Spanish in this case. All of them enjoyed a splendid sporting day at the prestigious course designed by Bernhard Von Limburger and inaugurated in 1967, followed by lunch at the facilities of the Costa del Sol club located in the municipality of Estepona.
The competition distributed numerous gifts -both to the best classified and during the raffle- sponsored by the Fairway and Blue store in Puerto Banús, Holiday Golf Group and Somontano Denominación de Origen wines.
The amateurs who attended the tournament generally played at a good level and enjoyed the course in an entertaining day of sport.
The awards ceremony, at the Atalaya clubhouse, where a magnificent lunch was served, was presided over by Andalucía Golf editor Antonio Sánchez, who was accompanied by Luis Navarro, of Holiday Golf Group, and Gabriela Johne, of Fairway and Blue.
As for the sporting results, in the first category, the victory went to Juan David Carretero Castillo, with 37 points. Second place, with 36 points, went to Maxim Kulykin, and third place, with 35 points, to Mirko Bogdanov. In the second category, Karina Budantseva won with 40 points. Second with 39 points was Juan Antonio López Álvarez, while third place went to Jan Policki, also with 39 points. The scratch winner was Francisco J. Carrere Lovera.
The special prize for the closest ball to the flag went to Kripaytite Svetlana, while the prizes for the longest drive were won by Mari Carmen Noguero and Martin Lavan.
