The RFGA officially inaugurates its headquarters and awards ceremony

The headquarters of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation was officially inaugurated on Friday, in a ceremony attended by the Councillor of the City Council of Malaga Mª Begoña Medina, and the Provincial Deputy Juan Jesús Fortes who, along with the President of the federative body, Ángel de la Riva, unveiled the commemorative plaque. The inauguration took place after the presentation of awards to the most outstanding athletes of the 2014 season and those of the past years 2012 and 2013.

At the same ceremony, the Board of Directors paid tribute to Mª Pilar van Dulken Jiménez-Lopera and Diego Molina Peso, awarding them the Medal of Merit in Golf of the Royal Andalusian Federation, in recognition of the work that both have developed in favor of Andalusian golf and their careers as federation directors.

Mª Pilar van Dulken has been at the head of the Women’s Amateur Technical Committee of the organization from 2002 until the beginning of 2013 and, since 2009, she has held the position of 1st Vice President of the organization, whose Management Commission she became president with the call for elections in 2012.

Diego Molina took over the Rules Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, which he still presides today, in 2004. The impeccable work he has done since then in favor of Andalusian golf has been recognized, not only by the Board of Directors of the organization, but also by his fellow referees, promoters of this distinction that he has received today.

In his words, Angel de la Riva, thanked Maria Pilar van Dulken for her affection and dedication to the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, during all the years she has worked for the benefit of Andalusian golf and from the different responsibilities she has assumed, especially as President of the Management Committee.

He also wanted to highlight the magnificent work carried out by Diego Molina as President of the Rules Committee for so many years and the human quality that he always carries as a flag.

In addition to these two well-deserved awards, the event was filled with many other emotional moments, highlighting the one starring Azahara Muñoz from Malaga, the greatest ambassador of Andalusian women’s golf, who attended the event accompanied by her parents, and received from the hands of Angel de la Riva the recognition for her triumph during the year 2012 in the Sybase Match Play; for her decisive role in the European victory in the 2013 Solheim Cup; for her consecutive victories in 2013 and 2014 in the Lacaste Ladies Open in France; and for her impeccable role last July during the Crown LPGA International and her contribution to the victory of the Spanish team in the championship.

Another of the highlights of the afternoon was when the Aloha player Leonardo Lilja -who at the end of last October began his career as a professional- received recognition for the triumphs that, even as an amateur, he has achieved in recent seasons: triple champion of Spain Individual Men’s Pitch and Putt; triple Champion of Spain together with the Andalusian team in the Interautonomic Pitch & Putt; triple Champion of Spain, also with the Andalusian team, in the Interautonomic U25; and Champion of Spain Pitch & Putt Doubles, together with his partner Antonio Pimentel, in 2012 and 2013.

Once the awards ceremony was over, the authorities proceeded to unveil the plaque, which officially inaugurated the new headquarters of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation.
