The RFGA proposes a traveling Andalusian Open to the Junta de Andalucia

The Royal Andalusian Golf Federation (RFGA) has proposed to the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Junta the organization of an Andalusian Open that will take place in different areas of the community every year in spring to promote the destination with emphasis on the weather.

The general secretary of the Federation, Miguel Navarro, told Efe that it is “fundamental” to hold this competition – promoted in past years by the Malaga golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez – because “at a promotional level it is the best investment” and it would be the first tournament on the calendar in continental Europe.

Navarro explained that the Federation still has the date reserved by the European Tour for this tournament, which is in early April, a time when Andalusia can show golfers “four hours a day from Thursday to Sunday in short sleeves with a wonderful sun”.

Navarro pointed out that the proposal that the Real Federación Real Andaluza de Golf has sent to the Regional Ministry involves the elaboration of a plan so that the Open “is not a one-off event, but has a lasting effect over time”.

The aim is to organize a competition over the next four years, and that each edition is held in an area, among which he has mentioned Malaga, Seville or Sotogrande (Cadiz).
