Tournament in San Roque Golf to benefit the Spanish Federation against Parkinson’s disease.

San Roque Club, with the support of the Spanish Parkinson’s Federation, has held in its Old Course a charity tournament for Parkinson’s disease, with the aim of raising funds to finance the projects of the Spanish Parkinson’s Federation. A total of 45 people have registered to participate in this tournament and collaborate with the projects that the Spanish Parkinson’s Federation develops throughout Spain in conjunction with its associations.

“From the Spanish Parkinson’s Federation we support and applaud this sports initiative. Keeping active through the implementation of any physical exercise is essential to improve the quality of life of the person affected by Parkinson’s disease and control, as far as possible, the motor symptoms of the disease. On the other hand, these events contribute to social awareness and sensitization, in short, to the normalization of Parkinson’s disease. We thank the club for having counted on us for this initiative,” explains Lola Garzón, secretary of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Parkinson’s Federation.

The organization of this tournament arises from the initiative of Bruno Krul, affected by Parkinson’s disease and member of San Roque Club, who wanted to contribute his grain of sand to improve the quality of life of his group. In addition, the companies Insight Experience and Gaugin have joined the initiative as sponsors, and Decathlon, Adidas, Holiday Golf, Srixon, RCG Sotogrande, RCG Sevilla, Club de Golf Valderrama, Villa Padierna, Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort and Hunter Group, as collaborators, donating material for the charity auction that took place at the end of the tournament.

Finally, Victor Goiriena, Enrique Garay, Bertol Izaguirre and Iñaki Sagasti, have also collaborated by donating several bottles of wine from their own wineries to be auctioned. The Spanish Parkinson’s Federation (FEP) The FEP is an organization with more than 20 years of experience in improving the quality of life of the more than 160,000 families living with Parkinson’s disease in Spain.

It currently includes 60 associations and its mission is to represent the associative movement at the national and international level for the defense of the interests of people affected by Parkinson’s disease. In addition to influencing the development of public policies, its real and effective application in everything that improves the quality of life of people with Parkinson’s, with special emphasis on the field of scientific and social research, prevention and health promotion.

All of this is based on the promotion of the participation of the person, caregivers and family members through the associative movement to achieve access to equal opportunity rights.

A club of category

San Roque Club first opened its doors in 1991 and quickly became the golf club of Sotogrande, currently known as the Golden Triangle of Golf. This club has hosted major golf events such as the Ryder Cup or the Spanish Open, and many elite players have passed through its facilities, such as Padraig Harrington and Lee Westwood, among others. Today the club continues to receive elite players from all over the world who come to take advantage of the excellent conditions of its courses.
