Men and women play naked in a tournament in Australia

It’s unusual, really, but that’s what happened on an Australian golf course: a tournament in which men and women competed naked. Or practically naked, because they were wearing shoes and caps to protect themselves from the sun. It happened in the north of the country, at the Humpty Doo club, near Darwin, and the initiative was made possible thanks to the efforts of nudists Bruce Jensen, 69, and his wife, Julie, who run a nudist club.

“We presented the event to the club committee, it took months of negotiations but they finally said we could play golf naked,” Jensen told CNN Sport.
However, the committee forgot about the nude golfers on the eighth and ninth fairways, both visible from the clubhouse, so it finally agreed that those two holes would not be played by nudists.
“Since it was a great success, I’m going to push to play those two holes next year,” Jensen noted. A great relative success, it must be said, because participation was limited to about thirty players.

“There was one attendee who, instead of using a buggy, used his shoulder to carry his clubs, which was a mistake because you can only do that when you’re wearing clothes, as it provides a layer of protection,” Jensen said.
