Real Club Valderrama has been voted best golf course in Spain for the third consecutive year by users of the website leadingcourses.com. The rankings are compiled on the basis of 300,000 comments from golfers across Europe. The comments cover numerous aspects that influence the quality of the club, such as the course itself, overall impression of the club, maintenance, practice facilities, clubhouse and perceived value for money.
“Valderrama has always been known for the high quality of the golf course and tournaments we have hosted,” says general manager Javier Reviriego. “Leading the Golfers’ Choice Awards for the third consecutive year means that our visiting golfers also value the service and experience we offer. Our team is very proud of this and we will continue to work hard to provide our guests with the highest standards of excellence on and off the golf course.”
When golfers only ranked the course itself – that is, without taking into account other elements such as appreciation of the clubhouse and practice facilities – the players again chose Valderrama as their number one. Valderrama’s fairways have been described by top professionals and leading golf writers as the best in Europe, if not the world.
A green fee at Royal Valderrama costs 330 euros for 18 holes on a weekday, but golfers noted that this price, while high, was fair. “Everything is designed to give you the best golf experience of your life,” says Schonkieboy. Another user, Jeroen, notes for his part, “If you can pay a high green fee, you will receive an unforgettable experience on a course with a great and rich golf history.”
The new number two in the leadingcourses.com ranking is Son Gual, located in the heart of Mallorca, while another Costa del Sol club, Finca Cortesín, is third, PGA Catalunya fourth and Alcanada fifth.
International certificates for Valderrama managers
In another development, Valderrama’s Operations Director, Fernando Padrón, , and Silvia Serrano, Executive Assistant, have earned the prestigious Certified Club Manager (CCM) titles. The demanding training process to obtain this title was designed by the Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE), and the certification is recognized in the United States, Australia, Canada, China and South Africa. Silvia is the first woman in Spain to receive a CCM and, along with Debbie Pern from Scotland, also the first in Europe.
