Valderrama, extraordinary setting for the Andalucía Golf Challenge

One of the best and most famous courses in the world, the Real Club Valderrama, has once again been the extraordinary setting for the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit, which this year celebrates its eleventh edition and has as its grand finale prize five one-week trips to Riviera Maya, Mexico, including flights, transfers, five-star all-inclusive hotel and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: PGA Riviera Maya, El Camaleón Mayacoba and Playa Paraíso.

The venue of the 1997 Ryder Cup, two AmEx World Championships, the Volvo Masters, the Spanish Open and the Andalucia Masters (next edition, October 17-19) was in unbeatable conditions, which were the delight and admiration of all the players. You can see all the improvements that have been made in the surroundings of the clubhouse, with new paving (rubber) of roads and with the smoothing of the facade of the clubhouse, which has been painted white (before it was vanilla color), giving it a modern and very elegant touch. The parking lot has also undergone improvements, with the installation of new white awnings to provide shade and protect vehicles from the rain. The extraordinary experience of playing Valderrama is enhanced by the help provided by the experienced caddies who accompany each match.

Also noteworthy is the professionalism of all the club’s staff led by Javier Reviriego, and the good work of its Director of Operations, Silvia Serrano. As a curiosity, Silvia replaced the former Director of Operations, Fernando Padrón, who will host the group of winners of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit in his capacity as Director of the PGA Riviera Maya Bahía Príncipe.

After the competition, the players enjoyed a splendid cocktail served under the supervision and personal care of Pablo Arroyo, F&B director of RC Valderrama.

In addition to the spectacular scenery of the competition, the good weather contributed to the success of the sports day, with a gentle, cool breeze and an excellent temperature.

In terms of sporting results, in the first category the first three classified were Alejandro Martínez Araso (35 points), Thomas Doyle (33) and Juan Castro Rodríguez (31).

The top three in the second category were Víctor Ceballos Niebla (38 points), Antonio Capasso (36) and Denis Diaconescu (36).

The scratch winner at Valderrama was Pablo Ridao Ceballos, with 25 scratch points.

As in the previous two years, this open amateur circuit organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf/España Golf has as a prize for the final five trips to the Caribbean by Grupo Piñero. Apart from the prizes of each tournament (premium brand clothing from the Fairway+Blue store in Puerto Banús, wines from Bodegas Lau D.O. Somontano, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the first classified in each category plus the scratch winner of each tournament get a direct place to play the grand final of the circuit at the Marbella Golf Resort on October 2, with the closing dinner of the circuit at the El Gamonal restaurant in Marbella and thus opt for one of the five trips to Riviera Maya for a week. The rest of the places for the final game are obtained based on a ranking based on the points obtained in the tournaments played.

The trip to the Riviera Maya is scheduled for November 5-13 of this year. On Saturday 6th the PGA Riviera Maya will be played, on Sunday 7th Mayakoba will be visited to watch the last day of the Mayakoba Golf Classic, a PGA Tour event, on Monday 8th Playa Paraiso will be played, Tuesday 9th will be free, on Wednesday 10th Mayakoba El Camaleón will be played (three days after the PGA Tour professionals have competed), Thursday 11th will be free and on Friday 12th the PGA Riviera Maya will be played and in the evening the flight back to Spain will be taken.
