A total of 125 golf professionals gathered at the XX edition of the Costa del Golf Tourism Golf Pro Am held at the Real Club Valderrama, which on this occasion paid tribute to José María Zamora, one of only two Spanish tournament directors on the European Tour and deputy director of the European Challenge Tour.
This tournament has become, according to the CEO of Costa del Sol Tourism, Jacobo Florido, a traditional and highly anticipated event by tourism professionals whose main objective is to “strengthen relations between professionals who make up the supply of the Costa del Golf and draw ways of joint promotion.
This important event in the world of golf, organized by Turismo Costa del Sol, is sponsored by Golfspain.com, Turismo Andaluz and the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation and with the collaboration of PGA Tour and Real Club Valderrama.
The Pro-Am reached its twentieth edition, with teams made up indistinctly of professionals and amateurs in order to “continue generating a relaxed context and at the same time, to share the reality of the destination’s golf offer, as well as to outline common perspectives to strengthen the Costa del Golf brand,” said Florido.
In the course of this event, tribute is paid to a significant figure in the Costa del Golf both in sports and in the promotion of the destination and on this occasion, according to Florido, “we pay tribute to a great of this sport, José María Zamora, one of only two Spanish tournament directors of the European Tour and deputy director of the European Challenge Tour.
This important promotional action has the support of golf industry professionals who “year after year demonstrate their faithful commitment to the segment and ultimately to our destination”.
In addition, and according to Jacobo Florido, this is an event that “this year we celebrate with more pride than ever after being named by IAGTO as the best European Golf destination and after having submitted a bid to host the Solheim 2023 with an unbeatable proposal”.
The CEO of Turismo Costa del Sol said that “we have to be very happy because the growth prospects of this segment are very positive”, while also valued “the revulsive that means the celebration of this tournament for golf tourism on the Costa del Sol, one of the most important segments of the supply of the province, which has more than 70 golf courses, concentrating the Costa del Sol-Costa del Golf 67% of the golf courses in Andalusia, which offers a great strength for improving the competitiveness of the Golf segment that is strategic to break the seasonality of the destination”.
This is a segment to which “Turismo Costa del Sol is paying special attention for several years, following a strategic line marked by the objective of achieving optimal management of seasonality and that, thanks to the celebration of these tournaments, receives a great impetus to continue its development. LA QUINTA GOLF, WINNING TEAM
La Quinta Golf, the winning team of the XX edition of the Pro Am Costa el Golf Turismo, will be the host course of the next edition of this important tournament organized by Turismo Costa del Sol together with Golfspain.com, Turismo Andaluz and the Real Federación Andaluza de Golf, as well as with the collaboration of Ping, Reales Seguros and Holiday Golf.
Third place in the tournament went to the Mijas Golf team and second place in the team competition to Real Club de Golf Guadalmina. As for the awards for the best professionals, sponsored by Golfspain, shared the first place, with 76 strokes, the players Juan Miguel Flores, Francisco Natoli, Juan Antonio Gámez and José Luis Gil.
