Valle del Este, the rebirth of a great resort

Since the end of last year, the Valle del Este resort in Almeria, located in Vera, very close to one of the best beaches in the area, has a new and enthusiastic property.

Pedro Lope, a lawyer from Zaragoza who arrived in the area ten years ago, is currently in charge and personally embodies the spirit of innovation, transformation and changes that now permeate this tourist complex, the most representative of Almería and one of the most important in Andalusia, as it is one of the few with its own hotel and golf course.

Lope has developed an ambitious plan of reforms and improvements that aim to place Valle del Este among the best tourist and residential resorts in southern Europe.

“I fell in love with Vera and Valle del Este as soon as I arrived,” he says, “and that was one of the reasons I embarked on this great tourism and real estate project with two other business groups. We did the golf course, a beach club, and a 142-room hotel.”

“We had,” he continues, “a complicated development, as the general economic situation of the country has been complicated during the last few years. And as a consequence of this, the change of ownership took place last year.”

“I have taken it on myself, from the entire complex, with the idea of making important economic investments, which we are already doing, to recover the lost years and return Valle del Este to its initial splendor and return to the original idea with which we thought of the project.”

-What reforms are you going to undertake most urgently?

-The two locomotives of the project are the hotel and the golf course, which go hand in hand and cannot be understood without each other. We started renovating the hotel last December, just a month after taking over the property, changing rooms, common areas, redecorating, etc., and now we will start with the golf course.

In this section we have given great importance to the course store, because we believe it will be a great source of business creation, and that is why we have completely remodeled it with the collaboration and support of Holiday Golf. We are also paying special attention to the school and, of course, to the course itself.

For the moment, there are no major changes to be made to the route, and we are concentrating primarily on maintenance in order to present the best possible product.

The design, made by José Canales, is good, but if in the future we had to make any changes, I would like to count on José María Olazábal.
