
Jacobo Cestino has been proclaimed champion of Spain for over 35 years old, “Marqués de Riscal Trophy”.competition that has taken place during three days in the Balearic course of Pula Golf (Son Servera, Mallorca).
The final victory went to the British Ryan Boal, who as a foreigner is not eligible for the title, thus benefiting the golfer from Malaga, who accumulates his third win after those harvested in the editions of 2010(Real Club de Golf de San Sebastián) and 2012(Real Club de Golf Sotogrande).
The Andalusian player finished the first two rounds as the outstanding leader after a 68 (best card of the tournament) and 76 strokes.
However, in the last 18 holes, Jacobo Cestino was not as accurate as in the previous days and a round of 80 strokes, together with Ryan Boal’s round under par, caused a turnaround in the standings.
In addition to the national title, it is worth remembering that Jacobo Cestino is also the current Andalusian Over 35 champion and a few months ago he won the inaugural edition of the Andalusian Pitch & Putt Over 35 Championship at Aloha Golf.
As for the rest of the Andalusian representatives in Pula Golf, special mention for the fifth place of José María Barrena thanks to a third round of 74 strokes, and the eighth position of Javier Reviriego with a total of 235 strokes.
On the other hand, in the women’s category, Lourdes Barbeito from San Sebastian dominated the championship from start to finish, accumulating a wide advantage from the first day to finish with an overall score of 241 strokes, 14 less than María Grifo and 25 over Emma Vila, second and third classified, respectively.
