The Marbella Town Hall today paid tribute to Azahara Muñoz, one of the best golfers in the world, with the placement of a plaque in her honor on the promenade of the municipality “for his invaluable work in promoting the sport and our city”.
The honoree, a native of the Marbella town of San Pedro Alcántara, broke her voice and barely held back tears as she expressed her gratitude to her family, teachers and friends for the support they have given her since she began to excel in the world of golf as a child.

Azahara Muñoz is currently twelfth in the world ranking and eighth in the earnings list of the U.S. Women’s LPGA Tour, where she debuted with great success in 2010, winning the Rookie of the Year award as the best rookie player in that professional circuit.

This season she has finished second twice on the LPGA Tour, where she has focused her career. She has also finished fourth twice and has finished in the top ten in total eight times.
Since making his debut on the American Tour in 2010, he has earned $3.4 million in prize money on that circuit, while in the European Tour he has earned €324,000.
