Brilliant victories of Eduard Rousaud and Ana Pelaez in the Andalucia Cup

Eduard Rousaud and Ana Peláez have started the year in the best possible way, with brilliant victories in the Men’s and Women’s Andalucía Cups, the start of the amateur golf season, played at the RCG Guadalmina (South Course) and Atalalaya Golf (Old Course), respectively.

The Barcelona golfer, one of the most thriving players in the Spanish male golf scene, enriches a record that, individually, includes the Spanish U16 Championship 2015, the Balearic Islands Cup 2016, the Canary Islands Championship 2018 and the Puerta de Hierro National Cup 2018, as well as contributing to the triumph of the Spanish team in the U18 European Team Championship 2018, the silver medals in the Junior World Team Championship 2018 and the U16 European Championship 2016 and U18 European Championship 2017.

On this occasion, at the RCG Guadalmina, with a one-stroke lead over Belgian Adrien Dumont at the start of the last 18 holes, Eduard Rousaud came out very focused and determined in pursuit of victory after reaching the lead in the previous round.

With a tremendously safe and efficient golf, Eduard Rousaud made no mistakes in the first round and with two birdies consolidated his lead, while in the second round he maintained the pace, accentuated by birdies on the 13th and 14th holes that gave him even more advantage, a cushion of six strokes with four holes to go.

Meanwhile, Adrien Dumont, with five bogeys and four birdies could not keep up with the pace of his main rival. Not content with that, Eduard Rousaud pressed the accelerator even more, with birdies on 16 and 17 to finish with a total of 268 strokes and four strokes over the Belgian, who repeats the second position of last year.

Special mention, within the Top 10, also completing a good performance, Alvaro Mueller-Baumgart, fifth with 278 strokes; Luis Masaveu seventh with 279; and Samuel Espinosa. Alberto Domínguez, Jorge Maicas and Joseba Torres, tied for ninth with 280 strokes.

For her part, Ana Pelaez, from Malaga, who continues her sports and academic training at the University of South Carolina, has in her track record, among many other things, the title in the Madrid Championship 2016 or the NCAA Regionals 2017, besides contributing to the triumph of Spain in the European Under 18 2015 and, more recently, last summer, the silver medal in the European Absolute Team 2019.
On this occasion, Ana Peláez has been a prophet in her own land and has won from start to finish thanks to cards of 69, 69, 73 and 69 strokes for a total of 280. Ana Peláez cemented her excellent victory in a tremendous regularity, based on three cards of 69 strokes, three under par, with the only exception of the third day, in which she signed 73 strokes, one over par.
Behind the local golfer was Marta Lopez from Almeria, who with a spectacular final card of 67 strokes, with six birdies and a bogey, put everything on her side to try to catch Ana Pelaez. A difficult goal in view of the accumulated income of the winner, but her struggle and tenacity has finally earned her a great runner-up.
The podium was completed by the French Orphee Burgnard, who with a final card of 71 strokes signed an overall result of 285 strokes, five more than the winner.
