With all eyes on the second major of the season, the U.S. Open, to be held this week at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, in the state of New York, the world ranking has returned to the top to American Dustin Johnson, who returns to the top of the ranking thanks to his victory yesterday at the FedEx St Jude Classic in Memphis. The victim is his compatriot Justin Thomas, now relegated to second place in the world ranking, almost three tenths of a second behind Johnson.
The third place in the world ranking goes to Englishman Justin Rose and the fourth to American Jordan Spieth, who has displaced Jon Rahm from that position. Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Brooks Koepka and Hideki Matsuyama complete in that order the top ten of the ranking.
Sergio Garcia is currently ranked 15th in the world rankings, down one position from the previous week.
Rafael Cabrera-Bello is now 24th, having dropped four places in the ranking in the last seven days.
One of the great protagonists of this week will undoubtedly be Tiger Woods, whose last victory in a major is now ten years ago. The Californian is currently in eightieth place in the world ranking.
