A total of 150 golfers from 30 different nations played two practice rounds at Villa Padierna Golf Resort, followed by three days of competition on the resort’s three golf courses: Flamingos, Alferini and Tramores. Tournament players, guests and spectators alike were treated to a variety of entertainment activities and daily excursions. The tournament’s main sponsor, HYLA, welcomed all guests with a gift of a humidifier and air purifier and a glass of cava in the VIP lounge of Villa Padierna’s members’ area.
The celebrations ended with a grand closing gala and awards ceremony on Saturday night. José Antonio Mena Castilla, mayor of Benahavís, and American Wayne Madden, past president of the Lions Foundation, were among the many VIP guests.
The main sponsors were awarded with a trophy. At the awards ceremony all players enjoyed trophies designed by sculptor David Marshall. Ivo Giner became the hero of the evening by delivering a brand new Mercedes Smart for Two to the organization, which was then promptly auctioned off for a substantial amount by sponsor Walter Fischer of FimmoCarGallery. Lions officials publicly thanked HYLA, the other prominent sponsors Société Générale Hambros, Ayuntamiento de Benahavis, FimmoCarGallery, First Class Travel Service, Viajes Grew, Ayuntamiento de Estepona, Patronato de Turismo de la Costa del Sol, Turismo Andaluz, Mara Collection, Alejandro Hermann and Yamaia Fashion, as well as all other sponsors and collaborators.
