The next edition, and it will already be the XIV, of the Pro-am Costa del Golf / Tourism, organized and sponsored by the Golf Area of the Costa del Sol Tourist Board, will host La Cala Golf Resort, despite having been ranked second in this year’s edition, since in application of the rules of the tournament the first classified to have already hosted this event yields the honor to the next in the standings.
This year’s tournament, which was held at Los Naranjos Golf, where the condition of the course, the high professionalism and the involvement of the club’s staff at all levels in the evaluation of the participants, resulted in the victory of the Almenara Golf team among a total of 28 fields, the maximum allowed for an event of these characteristics.
This meeting of the sector has the co-sponsorship of Golfspain.com, and Hipergolf, as well as the collaboration of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, AVE / RENFE, Association of Golf Professionals of Andalucia, Los Naranjos Golf and La Quinta Golf & Country Club.
In reference to the results, the first three classified courses were, in this order, Almenara Golf, La Cala Golf Resort and Baviera Golf.
After the tournament there was an aperitif as a meeting point and exchange of impressions among the participants of the different fields that made a total of 112 players, who were joined by the ten teams from different companies and institutions, as well as national and local specialized press, who simultaneously participated in the field of La Quinta Golf & Country Club. Also joining them were managers from different courses that do not play golf, as well as managers from different hotels and different tourism companies involved in the golf business. Among these teams we can mention Making Golf Group, Hipergolf-Yamaha, Aymerich, AVE, CostaGolf, Iberia, Patronato de Turismo, etc.
At the lunch, which was attended by about 200 people and was co-sponsored by Hipergolf, a plaque was presented, as every year, by the Tourist Board and the golf industry, in recognition of his work for golf in general and in particular to the Costa del Sol to a relevant person. In this case the thanks went to Peter Walton, president and founder of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) and creator of the International Golf Tour Operators Fair (IGTM) which has taken place in three editions in our area, two in Marbella and one in Malaga and his intervention has been very remarkable.
