Unbelievable, but true. There are times when the goddess Fortune smiles on you, and without a doubt Jim Corcoran, a 64-year-old American from Omaha, Nebraska, has enjoyed great luck. He was playing with his grandson Jackson, 9 years old, when he holed directly off the tee of the 123-meter 4th hole. Until he looked at the hole, Jim didn’t know he had hit an ace. They then played the 5th hole without a hitch, and on the next hole, a 94-meter hole, Grandpa made another hole-in-one. I said to my grandson, “Jack, did the ball go in,” and he said, “Yes, Grandpa. And I said, ‘This is unbelievable.
They were the third and fourth holes-in-one he scored in his 36 years as a golfer. With his first hole-in-one, in a tournament in 2012, he won a prize of $20,000. His second was in 2013, this time with no cash prize.
Jim didn’t plan to tell his family and friends about his two holes-in-one, but his regular playing partners at Platteview Country Club encouraged him to tell of his feat.
His golf colleagues said that anyone who knew him would believe it, whether the holes-in-one had been verified or not.
The only one who didn’t seem impressed was his grandson. “Jack didn’t realize the magnitude of the accomplishment; what he really loves is basketball,” his grandfather acknowledged.
