McDowell wins again the World Challenge in California

Graeme McDowell closed with a round of 68 strokes, four under par, and won yesterday the World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, California, in what was his first title in two years. This American Tour tournament is an unofficial and charitable event for the Tiger Woods Foundation, which is in charge of its organization.

McDowell held off the threat of Keegan Bradley with a couple of key shots on the back nine and finished with a final birdie he didn’t need. He totaled 271 strokes.

It was the 10th time in 12 rounds that he closed in the 60s at Sherwood Country Club, and he now has two wins and a second-place finish in this tournament.

Bradley, two strokes behind with five holes to go, was no closer than that, finishing with a 69 and a 274 overall.

The third place went to the American Bo Van Pelt, with a total of 278 strokes.

Woods, host and defending champion of the tournament, had no birdies until the 13th hole, and was fourth, tied with Rickie Fowler and Jim Furyk, with 279 strokes.
