
Basketball star Stephen Curry, of the NBA team Golden State Warriors, is also a passionate golfer and a generous and caring person with the pain of others. This is what he has shown after playing this weekend in a tournament of the Web.com Tour, the second most important professional circuit in the United States after the PGA Tour, where he participated as an amateur.
Curry, who finished last in the competition with an 86 in the final round, nevertheless left the tournament with his head held high thanks to the generous donation he has made to one of the Web.com Tour’s golfers.
Following the event, it was announced that the Ayesha and Stephen Curry Foundation will donate $25,000 to a GoFundMe account for Scott Harrington’s golfer and his wife, Jenn, who is in the midst of a battle with cancer, specifically Hodgkins lymphoma. Harrington has stepped away from Web.com competition for the time being so he can be with his wife after the disease was diagnosed in May for the second time.
Curry told reporters that he shared the news with Harrington over the phone, and Harrington responded with gratitude for his generosity.
“Jenn and I want to thank Ellie Mae and the Ayesha and Stephen Curry Foundation for such a generous gift,” Harrington said. “Steph called us personally to tell us what they were planning to do, and that really meant a lot to us. This has been very difficult and there are more difficult times ahead, but we’re optimistic and confident that Jenn will kick this thing off and get back to the healthy, active life she’s led for so long.”
