The Alps de Andalucía has started at the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina with a luxury participation -ten Alps Tour winners and a European Senior Tour winner among others- in a crucial week that has started with the presentation of the professional team of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation.
Ángel de la Riva, President of the RFGA stated that: “we are very happy with the team of professionals that we are going to help in their professional career. They are professionals who have a competition plan, they want to compete, they have a circuit where they can compete and we have to help them. They are guys who have potential and have shown it when they were children, juniors and amateurs. The important thing is that they continue to fight with the same enthusiasm and go out to the field to give the best shot. And that they follow the theory of Miguel Angel Jimenez: always go out to the course to enjoy”.
The five professionals of the RFGA team are Jaime Camargo, Patrick Simard, Juan Carlos Osorio, José Ignacio Marín -all of them competing in the Andalusian Alps- and the professional Patricia Lobato.
Jaime Camargo is from Marbella, is 26 years old and currently competes in the Alps Tour, the Latin American Tour and is preparing for the European Tour School: “The support of the RFGA is a respite, I am very grateful because having been one of those chosen by the Andalusian Federation, is the only support I have received since I became a professional and I am immensely grateful to them. Until now they had not confirmed us the support due to the delay of the elections, which has affected all the federated in its way and also the professionals; that is why it is very grateful that they have been able to bring forward this support. Until now, not having this support, I made wrong decisions such as becoming a member of three circuits; that is why I have taken the decision to, after the Alps of Andalusia take some time to think and decide in which of them to focus and follow the right line to achieve my goal, which is the European Tour”. (Camargo will tee off on the first day at 2.20 p.m. on the 1st tee).
Patrick Simard is from Marbella, he is 27 years old, he currently plays the Alps Tour with the invitations of the Andalusian Federation, as well as the Mena Tour of Dubai and the tournaments played in Chile of the Latin American Circuit: “My first year and a half as a professional I played there because my mother is Chilean, I debuted there and that is why I am invited to play these tournaments. My goal is to compete as much as I can, learn and get to the Tour and the support of the RFGA allows me to be able to play; without this support I would not be able to travel and therefore, I would not be able to play.” (Simard will tee off tomorrow at 13.40h on the 1st tee).
José Ignacio Marín is 25 years old and from Granada: “It is the first time I join the RFGA team and I am very grateful. It is a joy and a pride to represent the Federation in the circuits in which I am competing, the Alps Tour and the Gecko Tour”. (Marín will tee off at 1:40 p.m. on the 1st tee).
Juan Carlos Osorio is 26 years old and is from Marbella: “Since I started competing as a junior, the RFGA has supported me and now, as a professional, it is a much more important help to be able to compete in the Alps Tour and the Gecko Tour with the aim of making the leap, as soon as possible, to the European Tour”. (Osorio will tee off tomorrow at 13.40h on the 10th tee).
Patricia Lobato is the only girl in the program. She is from Cadiz, she is 27 years old and is playing her first full season in the Let Access: “Last year I was able to play the last 4 tournaments, this year I have a full card and I am very happy with my season. My goal is to get the Ladies European Tour card and thanks to the support of the RFGA I will be able to continue traveling and climbing positions towards the LET”.
