Tiger Woods’ first victory this year should only be 11 holes away, the remaining 11 holes to be played today to conclude the Farmers Insurance Open, whose final was postponed yesterday for lack of visibility due to dense fog. This circumstance forced to postpone the fourth and final round at the Torrey Pines course in La Jolla (USA), a tournament included in the PGA circuit and with a prize money of US$6,100,000.
The tournament is comfortably led by Woods, who could only finish seven holes before the postponement and accumulated a total of 202 strokes in the first three rounds. Six strokes behind the world number two are his compatriots Brandt Snedeker, with 13 holes completed, and Nikc Watney, with 8 holes completed in what was to be his last outing on the course.
This is Tiger’s first foray on the U.S. Tour in 2013 and his second event of the year, after his disappointing participation in Abhu Dhabi, part of the European Tour, where he missed the cut, the same thing that happened to world number one Rory McIlroy.
Woods won three times last year, breaking a drought of triumphs that had lasted more than 30 months. Having overcome the injury phase and with a stable swing after several changes, Tiger seems ready to regain the scepter of world golf that he held for so many years with total authority.
