Donald wins and regains world number one

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy’s world title has lasted just a couple of weeks. Luke Donald has regained the world number one after winning this Sunday the Transitions Championship of the American Tour, played in Palm Harbor (Florida), in a thrilling playoff hole. The English player once again shone with his own light to take the final victory in sudden death against South Korea’s Bae Sang-moon, and Americans Robert Garrigus and Jim Furyk. The four golfers finished the tournament with a total of 13 strokes under par and played for the title on the 18th hole. In the playoff, the English golfer gave no option to his rivals and won the tournament on the first hole thanks to a great second shot that gave him a birdie on a platter. In this way, Donald returns to the number one position after Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy took the throne away from him two weeks ago after winning the Honda Classic. Apart from the glory, Donald adds another 990,000 dollars to his bank account for this new triumph in his brilliant career.

On the other hand, and as for the Spanish representation, Sergio Garcia signed a good sixteenth position tied with four other golfers with a total of 8 strokes under par. The player from Borriol signed a great tournament, very regular during the four days, always performing under par.
