The player from Barcelona, Víctor García Broto, has won the Men’s Championship of the Valencian Community -a scoring event for the World and National Absolute and Boy 2015 Rankings-, coming back in an exciting afternoon session at the Panorámica Club de Golf course (Sant Jordi, Castellón), where the player from the Club de Campo de Córdoba, Víctor Pastor had dominated throughout the weekend.
The Andalusian started with an advantage of seven strokes over the Catalan, but in these final 18 holes the success of the latter combined with the more discreet round of the former. In other words, the 68 strokes of Víctor García Broto deactivated the income of Víctor Pastor, who signed 77.
In third position, one stroke behind Pastor and three behind the leader, finished the Aragonese Jorge Utrilla, who invested 69 strokes in this last performance, and Alejandro del Rey from Madrid, who completed a very solid week. The absence of wind on the last day played in favor of some golfers punished by this phenomenon in previous days.
As for the other Andalusians in the competition, also finished in the top ten were the player of the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, Pablo Heredia, and the federated by the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, Angel Hidalgo -both tied for fifth place with 294 strokes-, and Sergio Ronchel (Club de Golf Bellavista), with 295.
The career of Víctor García Broto has given a remarkable acceleration in recent times, settling in the group of regular players in the top of the tournaments scoring for the National Rankings. Champion of Spain Under 18 in 2014, that same year he was an important piece in the achievement of the Spanish Interclub Men’s Championship by the RCG El Prat team.
It is worth remembering that Víctor Pastor consolidated his lead in the morning with a third consecutive round under par. A 70 put him in an unbeatable position to face the 18 holes of the afternoon: six strokes separated him from Alejandro del Rey, and seven from Álvaro Veiga and Víctor García Broto.
At the end of the first 36 holes, Victor Pastor was the leader with a juicy income for Sunday’s 36 holes. The Andalusian signed 71 strokes in his second round to score a cumulative 141, an unattainable result for his closest pursuers. Alejandro del Rey and the Galician Íñigo López-Pizarro, with 145 and 146 strokes, respectively, were his main rivals.
The first day could not be completed on Friday because of the strong wind, which forced a resumption early on Saturday. Once those 18 holes were finished, Víctor Pastor was provisionally leading with a card of 70 strokes, a result that was only approached by Alejandro del Rey (71).
This tournament, penultimate scoring for an Absolute National Ranking 2015 and last for the Boy, was already valid for these rankings in 2013, when the Balearic Toni Ferrer won at the Escorpión course. The now professional player defeated Javier Gallegos from Madrid in a play-off playoff.
