Rahm equals Tiger and Sergio to be world top 10 in his first year as a professional

The great expectations placed in him are being fulfilled, and when he has not yet completed his first year as a professional, he has become the third player, after Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia, to reach the top ten of the world ranking. Thanks to his second place yesterday in the Dean & Deluna tournament, played at the Colonial Golf Course in Texas, the Biscayan has moved up to ninth in the world ranking and becomes, at 22 and a half years of age, the fifth youngest player to reach the top-10 worldwide, only surpassed in this aspect of age by Tiger, Sergio, Rlry McIlrohy and Jordan Spieth.

With the latter and the also American Sean O’Heary, he shared second place in the Dean & Deluna, being just one stroke behind the winner, the American Kevin Kisner. Rahm would have forced the playoff if he had not missed a birdie putt of only three meters on the last hole of the Colonial. Sergio Garcia finished twelfth, seven strokes behind the winner, who totaled 270 strokes. The Spaniard had very good memories of the tournament, since it was on this course at Colonial where he won his first victory on the United States Tour, the PGA Tour.

Rahm has moved up in the world ranking three places in one week, from twelfth to ninth, while Sergio has dropped one, from sixth to seventh. The next Spaniard in the ranking is Rafael Cabrera-Bello, twenty-eighth, and the fourth Spaniard in the top 100 is Pablo Larrazábal, in 89th place.
