The Seve Ballesteros PGA Spain Tour will travel through eight Spanish cities

The headquarters of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) has been very crowded for the presentation of the second edition of the national golf circuit Seve Ballesteros PGA Spain Tour 2019, which starts next week with a calendar of eight events in different Spanish cities and will be open to men and women professional golfers.

The circuit schedule has been presented at the beginning of the event by the head of the PGA Men’s Tournaments in Spain, Ander Martinez, who has indicated that the first of the eight tests will be held at the Club de Golf Soria, between 6 and 8 June, and will be named European City of Sport 2019, and whose registration for the tournament closes this Friday.

The second tournament will take place in Ciudad Real, from 13 to 15 June; the third event will be held in Benidorm (Alicante), from 4 to 6 July; the fourth will be held in Madrid, from 25 to 27 July; the fifth will be in Cadiz, at the end of August; the sixth in Bilbao, in October; the seventh, which will be the Phillips Hue RFEG Men’s Professional Championship of Spain will be from October 31 to November 3 at the Logroño Course, And the grand final will be in Oliva Nova (Valencia), between 6 and 8 December and will involve the top 40 finishers of the 2019 Order of Merit, and a minimum of 10 women will be needed for the women’s prize.

As was the case in the last edition of the Seve Ballesteros PGA Spain Tour, these eight events include the PGA Championship of Spain, to be announced shortly, and the Spanish Professional Championship of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG), the most important on the national scene.

The event was also attended by the president of the PGA of Spain, David Pastor, who pointed out that this circuit, which was awarded and had the international recognition of the PGA’s of Europe last December, “is a framework where young golfers compete” and has as its fundamental mission “to promote golf and the sport through its professionals” whom he defined as “the best vehicles to transmit the values of golf”.

The General Director of Youth and Sports of Castilla – La Mancha, Juan Ramón Amores García, has also intervened, who has highlighted during his speech that it is “an honor to be one of the venues that repeat in this circuit” and has committed to continue promoting it and to fight against inequality by allowing “anyone, regardless of their ability, can practice golf” through activities developed in schools.

In addition, Amores praised the figure of the late Spanish golfer Severiano Ballesteros for “transmitting values, moving and demonstrating that everything can be achieved by fighting,” and that his son, Javier Ballesteros, president of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation, will continue his father’s legacy and support golf at all levels of society.

Javier Ballesteros, Severiano Ballesteros’ eldest son and president of the foundation that bears the legendary golfer’s name, said that the foundation is “very happy that the circuit bears the name of his father, whose idea was always to promote golf”.

Ángel Hernández, Councilman Delegate of Modernization of the Administration and Sports of the City Council of Soria, has highlighted the importance for the city of events of this type that generate wealth for the region, sporting enthusiasm and a boost for golf in Soria.

The event was closed by the president of the CSD, María José Rienda, who highlighted the importance of the combination of golf and tourism for the economy of many corners of Spain, “and above all the sporting values offered by golf, a sport that can be practiced at any age and any social status”, and stressed the importance of the institutions getting involved in a sport that has given so many great golfers to Spanish sport.
