Tiger Woods, through his agent Mark Steinberg, has sought to put to rest rumors that he had an affair with the ex-wife of golfer Jason Dufner, a Ryder Cup teammate (2012) of the former world number one.
“It’s absolutely false,” Steinberg told Fox News on Wednesday. “A set-up, a complete lie,” he added.
Woods’ alleged affair with Amanda Boyd, 27, surfaced Wednesday morning in The National Enquirer , which said the alleged affair led to the May breakup of Tiger and girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, a romantic relationship that lasted two years.
Boyd was married to Dufner until April, when they divorced. The National Enquirer did not specify when the alleged affair with Tiger took place.
In 2009, Tiger admitted to his then-wife, Elin Nordegren, his infidelities with several women during their six-year marriage. The ‘cheating’ cost Woods $110 million, the money he paid Nordegren as part of their 2010 divorce settlement. The two share custody of their two sons, Sam and Charlie.
Cheaper came out of the divorce for Dufner, who paid about $3 million to Boyd when they separated.
